Lucas Pianegonda is the founder of Gradical and a globally recognized expert in sustainable plastics for medical technology. Over the past 10+ years he has worked with 40+ MedTech companies, and he now sits on the board of the European Medical Division of the Society of Plastics Engineers and the VDI Fachausschuss Kunststoffe in der Medizintechnik.

His current focus is the skill and mindset shift needed to achieve sustainable medtech and sustained innovation. Material compliance, MDR, and decarbonization are no longer R&D-only topics, they reshape how engineers, designers, and procurement teams need to think and work. Lucas is building an AI-powered plastic selection tool on top of his own polymer database to give MedTech teams faster, smarter decisions, designed to augment engineering judgment, not replace it.

Through his online learning platform, the GradeMatch program, and his podcast MedTech Sustainability by Design, he educates MedTech organizations to build the mindset, competencies, and culture their teams need to lead in this new era.
